Peppermint has been used as a remedy for indigestion since Ancient Egyptian times. Dried peppermint leaves were found in Egyptian pyramids dating back to 1000 B.C. The ancient Greeks and Romans valued it as a stomach soother. During the eighteenth century, peppermint became popular in Western Europe as a folk remedy for nausea, vomiting, morning sickness, respiratory infections, and menstrual disorders.
In modern times peppermint appears in the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia as a remedy for intestinal colic, gas, colds, morning sickness, and menstruation pain.
More recently research has found that peppermint oil promotes hair growth. Peppermint essential oil has been found to increase scalp thickness and the number of hair follicles.
If you are using your essential oils to promote hair growth, we recommend that you use them topically.
Applying essential oils to the skin or scalp:
A popular way to enjoy your essential oils is to simply apply them to your skin or scalp for absorption – though never directly on the skin, but always mixed and diluted with a carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil.
For external use only. Peppermint oil is best avoided in facial massage. Do not use undiluted on the skin. Avoid contact with sensitive areas, such as eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use essential oils on children under 5 years old. Consult your healthcare professional before using essential oils during pregnancy. Best kept in a cool dry place.Naturally occurring allergens: Limonene, Linalool. May produce an allergic reaction.
100% Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil.
Some people use Peppermint Essential Oil as a remedy for hair loss.
This may be because the menthol in peppermint essential oil is a vasodilator, and vasodilators improve blood flow.
In many instances (such as in female or male pattern baldness), hair loss occurs due to starved blood flow to hair follicles. Increasing circulation with a vasodilator like peppermint could potentially improve hair growth and prevent some hair loss.
Peppermint menthol also imparts a freshened smell and tingly sensation on the skin and scalp.

Tisserand Ingredients:
Sourced from around the world, all Tisserand essential oils are 100% pure organic, wild crafted or ethically harvested and this is clearly stated on each of theiroils. But what’s the difference?
Organic – Tisserand only use the Soil Association Organic accreditation on products when the ingredients are 100% organic. This applies not only to their essential oils, but all their products. Tisserand never claim a product or ingredient as organic unless it is 100%.
Certified organic essential oils are derived from plants that have been grown without the use of man-made fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides. Instead, it uses ecosystem management methods to maintain the health of both plant and soil instead, guaranteeing there are no inputs such as genetic modification or irradiation. The benefits of organic agriculture include no pollution of the local air or groundwater and no synthetic chemicals in the plant or its essential oil, while maintaining the viability of the local environment. International standards are set by IFOAM (the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements), which also accredits many certifying bodies, for example the Soil Association or French Ecocert.
Wild Crafted – Wild crafted essential oils are derived from plants that are not cultivated, but are gathered from their wild habitat. Although they are not organic, they are grown in their natural habitat, in conditions favourable to the health of the plant. Care is also taken to remain as sustainable as possible.
Ethically Harvested – An ethically harvested essential oil is derived from a herb, shrub or tree that is consciously cultivated in its natural environment to ensure the species grows in abundance and is not depleted. As far as aromatic plants are concerned, species depletion is only rarely a problem with herbs (which are mostly easy to grow in quantity) but tends to be more of an issue with slow-growing trees.
